As we've basked in the accomplishments of last season long enough, we must now
promptly set our sights on next season. No longer the feel good underdog story,
we've catapulted ourselves straight to public enemy #1 and with that, comes a
significant target on our backs. We intend to top last year's performance as a
team, so it's not enough to simply train from Nov. 15 to the 1st weekend in
March. Those who want to experience success must commit themselves to a
dedicated and strategic off-season regimen. Simply lifting with the football
team and attending a single week of camp will not propel you to the next level.
While it's common to possess visions of grandeur on the football field, keep in
mind, it's physically impossible to work yourself to 6'3, 230lbs if your
genetics have other plans; however, it's quite possible to work yourself to
great accomplishments in wrestling! We don't expect everyone to live for the
sport of wrestling, but we do want to ensure everyone capitalizes on their
potential and get's the most out of their ability. Simply because you started
wrestling in high school doesn't mean you can't reach the pinnacle of the sport
(i.e: Ryan Simonica), so don't let something like a lack of experience
discourage you from putting forth some extra effort. The burden of success lies
on those who return and how they return next season. You can either return as a
stronger version of the year before or you can return as a strong, faster,
quicker, tougher, and more skilled version of the year before...it's up to
you!
